Hudson’s RapidPick™  Colony Picking Systems are the only fully-automated high-throughput colony picking workcells. They deliver performance and precision unparalleled in the Life Science industry.   RapidPick systems offer the following capabilities:

In addition to allowing researchers to automate the selection and growth of cells grown on a colony plate, they will also retain a record and image of the each colony and which culture plate/well it inoculated. It provides the users an indispensable, unbroken data path from original colony to final result, eg. tracking a clone to a specific expressed protein. Fluorescent colony detection and Halo colony detection is available.

The RapidPick series consists of three different categories, based on the central colony picking component of the system: 
  • Multi-Pin Colony Picking Systems: Built around the RapidPick MP instrument, we offer three different systems:  Complete, Lite and Basic, which contain an increasing number of supporting components.  This series offers the highest-throughput automated colony-picking solutions available anywhere and can easily fit into anaerobic chambers.
  • Single-Pin Systems: The RapidPick SP is a single-pin picker for users who need RapidPick accuracy, but only require modest throughput. The source plate can be either petri dishes, segmented plates or Omni-Trays.  The standard software allows for colony picking, cherry picking, re-arraying and plate replication.
  • Pipette Tip-Based Systems: The RapidPick Harvester includes a single-channel SOLO pipettor for extracting larger volumes of colonies from semi-solid and liquid media.  The perfect device for extracting sample plugs of microbial colonies, stem cell clusters, or fungal samples.

The RapidPick ‘Lite’ offers all the capacity, throughput and picking/re-arraying features of the RapidPick Complete, but without  the liquid dispenser or  microplate sealer. The RapidPick Lite averages 2,400 colonies per hour.

The RapidPick Basic  consists of the RapidPick MP colony-picking instrument only.  The RapidPick MP is the fastest, most accurate automated multi-pin colony picking system in the world.  The RapiPick MP is at the heart of the Complete and Lite systems which include robotic plate loading, media filling as well as other features, such as plate sealing in the RapidPick Complete Workcell. 

The RapidPick Basic unit is intended for researchers who need the accuracy and high outgrowth rates of the RapidPick colony-picker, but whose workload doesn’t require the added automation available in the Complete or Lite systems.
